Join us at Quoile Yacht Club
As a vibrant, diverse and family-friendly club, the membership encompasses people from all walks of life who have an interest in sailing, recreational boating, water sports and social activities.
Beautifully situated at the mouth of the Quoile River, at the extreme south of Strangford Lough on the shores of Castle Island, being approximately 4 miles from Downpatrick and 7 miles from Strangford. The club boasts some of the best facilities on the Lough, with sheltered moorings, two slipways, a mast derrick, winter hardstanding and a 100 metres of pontoon space which is accessible at all tides, for club members and visitors alike.
The jewel in the crown of QYC is the superb Clubhouse right on the water’s edge with stunning water views from every vantage point, along with the on-site caravan park. Members and their guests can enjoy the clubhouse bar/lounge, outside patio/bbq area and clubhouse catering facilities. There is an ever-changing social scene with events throughout the season, from themed nights, charity and quiz nights and glitzy Summer BBQs.
The club has been recognised by the RYA as one of the most progressive yacht clubs in Northern Ireland and QYC was awarded RYA Club of the Year in 2016. The club offers an extensive range of activities:
- Recreational boating with organised cruises in company and other social boating events.
- An extensive range of competitive sailing events, notably the Spring Series, Regatta and 2 Day Event.
- Salty Fridays is our junior sailing programme, using our club boats, Lasers RS2000, Picos and Toppers, which are also available for hire by our members throughout the season.
- A variety of social events held at the club throughout the season, catering for all ages and interests.
